GEOLOGY COURSE at Velferden with Tom Heldal!
We are looking for participants for the Geology course for adults at Velferden May 24-26. The course lasts from Friday afternoon/evening to Sunday afternoon. There will be exciting presentations by geologist Tom Heldal, an excursion and discovery of local geology, shared meals and discussion.

Meet Anna Krook-Riekkola
Meet Anna Krook-Riekkola, Researcher in Velferden's programme WASTE / DEPOSIT .
Anna was on a working visit with us in October 2023. During this period, she wrote a book that will frame four science-fiction stories from a future northern Sweden where an energy transition has taken place. The book is a collaboration between science and art, where different future scenarios are conveyed through science fiction.

In today's Morgenbladet, an article about the history of the titanium dioxide is on the front page!
A long and very interesting report on the research project that Marte Johnslien and Ingrid Halland are conducting on the complexity of the white pigment titanium dioxide's history from patenting that took place at Sandbekk where Velferden is located, and forward through the century to how this industry works today.

Velferden's programme : WASTE / DEPOSIT
Over the next few years, Velferden will be working on the theme of WASTE / DEPOSIT, which takes a closer look at issues surrounding the historical, current and future disposal of tailings from mining operations in the Sokndal and Dalane region. The program consists of visits, work stays for immersion and production, courses, exhibitions and seminars.
