• Ebba Moi (b. 1971) is an artist in the collective Tenthaus and works primarily within socially engaged art as an artist and curator in various self-initiated projects and collaborations.

Anna Carin Hedberg (b. 1966) works in addition to her own art projects, with art communication and practice-based research at the National Museum in Oslo.

Together, Hedberg and Moi form an established artist duo that explores cultural changes in society and structures that thematize various change processes. The majority of their projects are carried out in public environments where involvement and participants are emphasized as a starting point for both process and artwork.

The duo has exhibited at the Tokyo Biennale, Trafo Kunsthall, Vigeland Museum, Trøndelag Center for Contemporary Art, Kristiansand Kunsthall, Grimstad Short Film Festival and the Kulturhuset in Stockholm.

Active imagination is a method developed by Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) in which one consciously enters into inner images, fantasies or dreams in order to enter into dialogue with the unconscious. The goal is to explore and integrate unconscious aspects of the psyche.

Active imagination can be used as a method for listening to the "voices" of materials, not only as raw materials, but as carriers of meaning. For Bruno Latour (1947-2022), materials are not understood as passive objects, but as actors in networks of people, technologies and practices.

When sand from a landfill is explored through active imagination, it opens up a relational approach in which the sand becomes an agent: it influences thoughts, actions and narratives. In this way, inner perceptions (Jung) are connected with material and social connections (Latour), and the landfill sand becomes a meeting point between psyche, environment and society.

The artists have engaged in active imagination with the landfill sand, both with local participants and with each other. The process was recorded and archived in the form of casts, film and narrative.
