Mori and the Drifters

Mori and the Drifters is an interdisciplinary collective consisting of five artists with backgrounds in dance, music, and elements of visual art.

Šárka Benedová , Czech saxophonist and dancer based in Oslo, who creates improvisational works in public spaces.

Victoria Heggelund , textile artist and dancer based in Stavanger, who works with the interaction between clothing, movement and sound.

Helene Düring Kjær , Danish dance artist based in Bremen and Scandinavia, focusing on interaction, contact improvisation and interdisciplinary forms of collaboration.

Martine Rubin Wollan , dance artist based in Oslo, with a particular interest in presence and accessibility as a bodily and artistic practice.

Atul Giri , Indian musician and sound artist based in Oslo, who combines field recording, sound art and storytelling in projects with global reach.

Previously, the group has been in residence in Copenhagen at HAUT Scene in collaboration with RAS, and has had a screening at the Institute for X in Aarhus.

During the production stay at Velferden in May 2025, Mori and the Drifters worked on a performance called How to Arrive After Landing:

How to Arrive After Landing delves into the universal experiences of physical and emotional journey. The performance explores various aspects of human migration and all its nuances and dimensions.

Mori and the Drifters spent their time at Velferden creating mini-models of the different rooms in the performance, as well as researching the different components of the work, consisting of sound, light, movement and visual elements. As an essential part of the process, the group collected and explored materials from the local area, which in various ways become part of the final performance.

How to Arrive After Landing will premiere at Ølhallene at Tou Scene in Stavanger in February 2026.

The performance is supported by Stavanger Municipality, Rogaland County Municipality and Velferden.
