Ketil Nergaard

Ketil Nergaard (b.1964) is a Norwegian visual artist based in Oslo. He works in a variety of genres, often three-dimensional, and is particularly interested in the relationship between different art forms.

He is currently working on a series of painted wooden sculptures, combined with self-written pop songs. His latest project was the exhibition "Precious" at the Central Bank in Oslo in the summer of 2025, where he showed works based on his work as a museum technician at the National Museum.

Ketil was on residency with us in October 2025. Here he writes about what he worked on Velferden :

“I had a short stay at Velferden in October, where I worked with two small sculptures made from materials I found on the site. One is called "Artist's shoes" and is intended as a double portrait of two artists, one bourgeois, the other radical, but with the same type of shoes. The plan is to make two shoes, but this has so far been solved with the help of a mirror. The other was intended as a model for a recently begun sculpture in the size of a Nennesko, which will probably be quite different. Half of the model is currently inside the mirror and the working title is therefore "Ghost".
