Silvia Amancei & Bogdan Armanu
Silvia Amancei and Bogdan Armanu (b. 1991, Iași / Timișoara, Romania) are an artist couple who have collaborated since 2012, and who live and work in Sandnes, Rogaland.
Their artistic practice is multidisciplinary, searching for meanings and methods to contextualize existence within a broad political and cultural spectrum.
Silvia and Bogdan were on residency with us in December 2025. Here they worked experimentally and research-based, in interaction with the local environment and its stories.

“Our stay at Velferden did not follow a programmatic and detailed plan to develop a specific project, but was a space to enjoy life outside of work and everyday obligations - a situation that always leads to us creating new art in one form or another.
Even though we were only there for two weeks, we felt like time was ours again. We went for walks, filmed, photographed, drew, wrote, and talked to the warm and open people we met. Finally, we had a Christmas dinner in front of the fireplace and discovered that we were surrounded by friends. Now we know that we want to come back to continue working on what we started.
For us, the stay was a reminder that life can be different from what we are used to; slower, friendlier, with less focus on consumption and more opportunities to see the other. This interesting mix of living in a small place, but in a large and beautiful house, not as a control tower, but as a place of observation, and having a studio in a seemingly abandoned area, while being surrounded by beautiful nature, gave us a rich breeding ground for creative thinking.”
