WASTE / DEPOSIT

We were proud to present 9 visual artists in our WASTE / DEPOSIT programme , who produced brand new art with us during the period 2023 to 2026.

THE ARTISTS IN THE EXHIBITION WERE:

The exhibition at Velferden was open every Saturday and Sunday from its opening on August 6 until August 30, 2026.

The part of the exhibition that was shown at Jøssingfjord Science Museum followed the museum's opening hours during the same period.

The artists worked closely with the landscape of Sokndal, based on personal encounters with the large-scale natural interventions from mining. Since we started the program in 2023, they have had the opportunity to meet researchers, local residents and representatives from the mining industry, who have helped to give them a rich and varied understanding of the situation in the village. With lots of impressions and nuanced perspectives at the core, mixed with their own references and strong artistic practice, they created works that formed a complex exhibition on the theme WASTE / DEPOSIT .

The exhibition consisted of artistic expressions such as sound art, installation, painting, video, performance, sculpture and workshops. All of it was shown indoors and outdoors at Sandbekk, and with a separate section in Jøssingfjord Science Museum.

Alongside the exhibition, we held a seminar on June 5, 2026 with the theme WASTE / DEPOSIT at Jøssingfjord Science Museum.
